TiVo Essay that got me to Sign Up I need a TiVo because television sets were banned when I was growing up. We home schooled and the folks thought it best for us. I didnt necessarily miss out on a lot of my socialization. I grew up with the Krofft Superstars and the like, but only because my neighbors let me sit in front of their TVs while they had dinner, cleaned up, went on walks, and more or less ignored me. With my sleuthing skills, as an eight year old, I even discovered the Bugaloos. But my viewing opportunities were limited and I have a gap in my experience with television. From about age 11 until college, I only had access to TV when I baby-sat the neighborhood kids. It wasnt enough, however, and I continue to this day to catch up on the stories that everybody else has already watched. It wasnt until my third year in grad school that I found out that the TV show, M*A*S*H, was filmed in color and not in black and white. This is why I need TiVo. I have so much to learn! I want to be able to relive my middle years and Stop, Pause, and Replay the famous lines like, "I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-train. I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down." [Hawkeye Pierce] Please give me a TiVo! I need a little help growing into my 30s. |
