From 1983 - 1986 I was educated at home by my parents and several teachers throughout the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. This was the period when I was between the ages of 13 and 16. During this time, my younger brother and sister were also homeschooled.

I remember studying in my room, various textbooks in hand, realizing that I was teaching myself about what I wanted to learn. I was lucky and had conviction and was insatiable. When I turned 16, I remember considering a lot of problematic situations. I conjured up nightmares about failure. I became frightened that I was not following the same curriculum and course patterns of my friends in the same age groups. I attempted to modify my studies to reflect what I knew was being studied in the public and private school systems. I eventually gave up and became determined to simplify and learn with a focus on my interests of the year. That was the best decision of my life.

The results of this endeavor brought me to college early. I graduated at 19, which I admit was too young. I have always felt I was different. It is sometimes difficult to relate to others my own age even still today. Overall, I don't notice too many things about my life which separate me from the world around me. Perhaps I made up for 'lost' experience.

I still read.
